DP World and Nigeria-based Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group have entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen logistics and supply chain operations in Nigeria, with plans to use the collaboration as a platform for expansion into other West African markets.

The partnership brings together DP World’s global logistics and supply chain expertise with TGI Group’s extensive distribution network, local market knowledge and operational experience in Nigeria.

Under the agreement, DP World Logistics Limited will continue its existing operations in Nigeria, including road freight and contract logistics, while expanding its services and exploring new solutions such as fourth-party logistics (4PL).

The companies said the partnership would improve the movement of goods, strengthen supply chain efficiency and help Nigerian businesses connect more effectively to regional and international markets.

TGI Group is also expected to benefit from DP World’s logistics expertise and operational support, with the collaboration aimed at optimising its distribution activities and improving supply chain performance.

DP World Logistics already operates in Nigeria, providing logistics and market access services to sectors including healthcare and consumer goods. The partnership is expected to build on these operations while creating opportunities to expand the company’s logistics offering.

Mohammed Akoojee, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of DP World Africa, described Nigeria as a critical market for the future of trade in Africa.

He said the partnership would help strengthen supply chains while creating new opportunities for businesses in Nigeria and across the region.

“Together, we will strengthen supply chains, improve the movement of goods and unlock new opportunities for growth in Nigeria and beyond,” Akoojee said.

Subject to regulatory approval, TGI Group will become a shareholder in DP World Logistics’ Nigerian business, while DP World will retain majority ownership.

Farouk Gumel, Vice Chairman of TGI Group, said the partnership reflected the companies’ ambition to transform trade and logistics across Africa.

He said combining DP World’s international logistics capabilities with TGI’s local market knowledge and distribution network would help build more resilient supply chains and improve regional connectivity.

The partnership will initially focus on Nigeria but is expected to create a foundation for expansion into other West African markets.

For Nigerian businesses, improved logistics and distribution networks could support the more efficient movement of goods within the country while making it easier for companies to reach customers and markets across the region.

The collaboration comes as businesses across West Africa increasingly seek more efficient supply chain solutions to reduce operational bottlenecks, improve market access and support cross-border trade.

By combining TGI’s local distribution capabilities with DP World’s international logistics expertise, the companies said the partnership would support more efficient movement of goods and create opportunities for businesses to scale their operations in Nigeria and the wider West African market.
