About Social Impact News

Reporting the work that moves Africa forward.

We are an impact journalism organisation dedicated to reporting social change, sustainable development and the people and organisations driving progress across the continent.

Meet the newsroom
Twelve Kenyan EdTech startups have secured $100,000 (Sh12.9 million) each through the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship at iHub to scale innovative digital learning solutions for underserved communities. The programme aims to improve access to quality education while helping education technology businesses grow across Kenya and Africa.
Field reporting

We put people, place and evidence at the centre of every story.

Why we exist

Impact stories are chronically underreported.

The initiatives transforming communities, the policies reshaping systems and the individuals building something better deserve the same rigorous, data-driven journalism applied to markets, politics and culture.

Social Impact News closes that gap—combining editorial depth with data intelligence so progress can be understood, questioned and strengthened.

Our values

Standards before spectacle.

01

Verified reporting

We verify before we publish. Data, sources and evidence are the foundation of everything we produce.

02

Professionalism

We work to a high editorial standard in every relationship—with readers, sources, partners and communities.

03

Independence

Our editorial voice is independent. We cover organisations doing meaningful work without surrendering scrutiny.

How we work

Journalism with an evidence trail.

  1. 01

    Listen closely

We begin with communities, practitioners and the people closest to the issue.

  2. 02

    Interrogate the evidence

We test claims against data, policy, context and independent sources.

  3. 03

    Follow what changes

We look beyond launches and announcements to examine outcomes and accountability.
