Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has graduated 500 young people who completed vocational skills training at the Vocational Training Centre in Damba, Gusau.
The beneficiaries received training in various vocational fields as part of the state government’s efforts to equip young people and other residents with practical skills for employment, self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
According to the state government, the programme is intended to help participants secure employment or establish small-scale businesses using the skills acquired during the training.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Governor Lawal described vocational training as an important tool for addressing youth unemployment and promoting self-reliance.
He said his administration’s Rescue Mission had identified skills development as a key pillar in its efforts to build a sustainable economy and create opportunities for young people.
According to the governor, youths with practical skills can earn sustainable incomes, create jobs for others and reduce their dependence on government support.
The state government said the skills acquired by the 500 graduates would improve their livelihoods while contributing to economic growth and development in Zamfara.
The graduation forms part of the government’s broader efforts to expand access to vocational training and skills acquisition programmes across the state, with the aim of creating more opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship.
