Fifteen young technology enthusiasts in Kwara State have completed an intensive training programme in software development and practical digital skills under the Alveum and MALhub Tech Talent Scholarship Programme.
The fully sponsored initiative, held in Ilorin, targeted young people aged between nine and 20, providing participants with hands-on technical training, problem-solving skills, project-based learning and exposure to modern technology workflows.
The programme is aimed at identifying and developing early-stage technology talent while creating pathways for young people to pursue careers in Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
Alveum targets early talent development
Speaking on the initiative, Alveum Chief Operating Officer, Abdul Ibiyeye, described the programme as a deliberate investment in identifying and nurturing young talent rather than simply a corporate social responsibility project.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to creating opportunities that would enable young learners to transition from training into meaningful roles within the technology industry.
Alveum’s Chief Technology Officer, Habeeb Salaudeen, also commended the participants for their progress during the programme.
He disclosed that outstanding beneficiaries could be offered internship placements, giving them an opportunity to gain practical experience by working on active technology projects.
MALhub highlights importance of mentorship
Co-founder of MALhub, Kamaldeen Kehinde, stressed the importance of sustained mentorship, continuous practice and stronger connections between young technology learners and industry professionals.
He said bridging the gap between technology education and real-world opportunities requires more than classroom instruction.
According to him, the partnership is designed to help beneficiaries see technology not only as a career path but also as a tool for developing sustainable solutions and building businesses.
He added that initiatives of this nature could contribute to building a stronger technology talent pipeline in Kwara State and support the growth of Nigeria’s wider digital economy.
