The New Africa Fund has opened applications for the 2026 Africa Fundraising Incubator, a capacity-building programme designed to help African nonprofit organisations develop stronger and more sustainable fundraising systems.
The programme is open to legally registered non-governmental organisations, community-based organisations and social enterprises operating in any of the 54 African Union member states.
Previously known as the Africa Impact Fundraising Grant, the incubator combines practical fundraising training, financial support and organisational development.
What selected organisations will receive
Successful applicants will participate in specialised online training focused on planning and executing small-donor fundraising campaigns.
Participants will then apply what they have learned during a 30-day fundraising challenge. Eligible organisations can receive up to $5,000 in matching funds from the New Africa Fund based on the amount they raise and the programme’s guidelines.
Participating organisations will also receive 12 months of free fiscal sponsorship, helping them reduce administrative barriers and access fundraising infrastructure.
Top-performing organisations may be invited to an all-expenses-paid, week-long boot camp in Kigali, Rwanda. The programme will cover fundraising strategy, financial management, communications, grant writing, donor research, donor retention and leadership development.
Who can apply
Applicants must be a legally registered NGO, community-based organisation or social enterprise in one of the 54 African Union member states and must be prepared to participate fully in the programme. Applications may be submitted in English or French. Individuals and organisations registered outside Africa are not eligible.
Documents required
Organisations should prepare their registration document and most recent external audit report before applying. Organisations without an external audit may submit five months of financial statements covering all organisational accounts.
The New Africa Fund has warned that it does not charge an application fee. Any individual requesting payment while claiming to represent the programme should be treated as fraudulent.
Application deadline
Applications close at 5:00 p.m. UTC on Friday, 14 August 2026. This is 6:00 p.m. in Nigeria. Interested organisations are encouraged to apply before the deadline.
