The Esther Williams Foundation (EWF) says it has reached more than 1,130 children through its education, health, mentorship and community-development programmes, while distributing more than 1,000 hygiene kits to students.
Founded in 2018, the nonprofit focuses on vulnerable children and underserved communities, with particular attention to girls. Its programmes cover educational support, counselling, child wellbeing, mentorship, leadership and menstrual-hygiene education.
One of its flagship initiatives, the Pad A Girl Outreach and Hygiene Education Programme, provides menstrual-health education and sanitary products to schoolgirls. The foundation said more than 1,000 sanitary pads were distributed at schools including Oluwole Secondary School in Ejigbo and Queen’s College in Yaba.
EWF also reported that it has fed more than 500 people through food outreach programmes and implemented more than four major outreach initiatives. The organisation currently works mainly in Lagos, with plans to expand into more communities across Nigeria.
Founder and Executive Director Esther Williams said the foundation’s work is focused not only on the number of beneficiaries reached but also on improving confidence, dignity and long-term opportunities for children.
The organisation said it will continue working with schools, communities, government agencies, companies and development partners to address barriers including poor access to education, menstrual-health challenges, child-protection risks and gender inequality.
