Best Ghanaian Farmers to Receive 7-Day Agricultural Study Trip to Italy

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, in partnership with Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms, has announced plans to sponsor seven-day international agricultural study trips to Italy for the Overall National Best Farmer and the National Best Poultry Farmer at the 42nd National Farmers’ Day Celebration in 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry, the two agribusiness companies have pledged international exposure packages aimed at giving the award-winning farmers an opportunity to study modern agricultural practices and innovations in Italy.

Under the sponsorship package from Mehak Company Limited, the Overall National Best Farmer and their spouse or partner will receive an all-expenses-paid seven-day trip to Italy.

The trip will expose the award winner to modern European agricultural technology, sustainable value chains and food processing innovations.

Covenant Farms will sponsor a similar seven-day all-expenses-paid technical and benchmarking trip for the National Best Poultry Farmer. The visit will focus on modern poultry production practices, sustainable systems and innovative approaches to poultry farming.

The Ministry said the sponsorship packages are intended to expose Ghanaian farmers to modern farming technologies, processing innovations and smart agricultural practices, while supporting the government’s efforts to modernise the agricultural sector.

The Ministry also disclosed that it had completed negotiations with the Italian Embassy to facilitate the travel arrangements for the farmers who emerge as winners in the two categories.

The initiative is expected to provide the award-winning farmers with practical international exposure that can contribute to improved farming practices and knowledge sharing within Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The Ministry expressed appreciation to the management of Mehak Company Limited and Covenant Farms for supporting the National Farmers’ Day celebration and recognising excellence in Ghanaian agriculture.

The 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration will recognise farmers and other stakeholders whose contributions continue to support food production, agricultural development and the country’s economy.
