Dangote Granite Mines Awards Annual Scholarships to 60 Students in Ogun Host Communities.

Dangote Granite Mines, a subsidiary of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), has awarded annual scholarships to 60 students from its host communities in Ogun State, reaffirming its commitment to promoting education and supporting community development.

The beneficiaries include 40 students enrolled in tertiary institutions and 20 secondary school students drawn from the communities of Ayebandele, Olorunmodu, Saliu Babarisi and Idi Omo under the company’s annual educational support initiative.

The scholarship presentation ceremony brought together traditional rulers, community leaders, parents, students and members of the management team of Dangote Granite Mines.

Speaking during the event, the company’s General Manager for Community Relations, Joseph Alabi, described the scholarship scheme as one of Dangote Granite Mines’ most significant investments in the future of its host communities.

He emphasised that education remains a powerful tool for sustainable development and stressed the importance of corporate organisations supporting young people in achieving their academic aspirations.

“Every year, we are pleased to support brilliant and deserving students from our host communities because we recognise that education is the foundation of sustainable development,” Alabi said.

According to him, the scholarship programme is part of the company’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda, which extends beyond education to include the rehabilitation of classrooms, the donation of school furniture, healthcare initiatives and the installation of solar-powered boreholes to improve access to clean drinking water.

Traditional leaders at the event commended Dangote Granite Mines for its continued investment in education and the welfare of surrounding communities.

The Sopinlukale of Oke-Sopin, Ijebu-Igbo, Oba Mufutau Adesesan Yusuf, praised the company for consistently supporting students and implementing projects that have positively impacted local communities over the years.

He noted that the annual scholarship programme has enabled many young people to pursue their educational goals while strengthening the relationship between Dangote Granite Mines and its host communities.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, several students expressed gratitude to the company for the financial support, promising to remain dedicated to their studies and make the most of the opportunity to excel academically.
